Clinic Policies

Our Mission

Our mission at Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic is to make every effort to be available for our clients and patients during our operating hours. We have a designated veterinarian available at our Sheboygan Falls location every day for our urgent care services. When your pet needs to be seen on short notice, an urgent care visit may be scheduled with our receptionists at our earliest availability. Longer wait times may be possible for these appointments as we prioritize emergency or critical cases.

Fear Free & Feline-Friendly Care

At Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic, we are committed to providing low-stress, compassionate care for every patient. Our team utilizes Fear Free handling techniques and follows Feline Friendly guidelines to reduce anxiety and create a calmer experience. We use gentle handling, species-appropriate rewards, quiet exam spaces, and environmental modifications such as pheromone diffusers and warm towels to help pets feel safe. The safety and comfort of our patients, our team, and our clients is always a top priority.

Emergencies

In case of emergencies occurring outside of our clinic hours, Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic refers our clients to:

  • WVRC Ozaukee: 262-546-0249 (24-Hours)
  • WVRC Waukesha: 262-542-3241 (24-Hours)
  • Blue Pearl Port Washington: 262-268-7800
  • Blue Pearl Glendale: 414-540-6710
  • Blue Pearl Appleton/Fox Valley: 920-993-9193 (24-Hours)

These facilities offer both emergency and specialist care, and are great resources for our clients when we are unavailable. We highly recommend contacting the hospital prior to your visit to confirm their operating hours, and get an estimated wait time.

Medication Refills

Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic prescription refill policy asks that you allow 24–48 hours for your pet's prescriptions to be refilled; this gives our staff and doctors time to review your pet’s file and ensure no medication changes are needed. Certain medications require blood testing and check-ups at specific intervals in order for your pet to continue on the medication.

Any medication that has left the building, regardless if it has been opened or not, cannot be returned. As all of our medications are FDA regulated, we are subject to the same dispensing laws as human pharmacies.

Online Pharmacy

While caring for your pet, the occasion may arise when you need medications for your pet that are not available at our in-clinic pharmacy. We frequently utilize our online pharmacy to provide convenient access to your pet’s medications, delivered directly to your home. Our pharmacies guarantee authentic products and allow your veterinarian to make the best recommendations for your pet.

Payment Policy

Healthy Paws Veterinary Clinic’s fee schedule reflects the fact that payment is made at the time a service is provided. If a major expense should suddenly arise, it may be possible to arrange installment payments through a credit program called CareCredit. CareCredit is a charge card used in many veterinary clinics to help owners pay for the unexpected at the time services are rendered.

We make every effort to ensure that all fees are fair and reasonable, and encourage you to discuss charges before services are rendered. Estimates for all services are available upon request.

Accepted Payment Methods:
Cash, Personal Checks, Apple Pay, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, and CareCredit.

Communication Methods

We at Healthy Paws strive to provide efficient, effective communication between our veterinarians, staff, and pet owners. Our clinic relies on email, text messaging, and phone calls to provide updates regarding vaccine and service reminders, lab results, follow-up recommendations, appointment scheduling, medication refills, and more.

Please don’t hesitate to update our staff with your preferred communication style so we can ensure we’re delivering updates in the best way possible.

Appointment Recording

To ensure that our medical staff is transcribing and documenting each visit in the medical record efficiently and accurately, our clinic utilizes voice recording in the exam rooms for note-taking purposes. Phone call recordings are also being utilized for quality assurance purposes.
